How to Export Character.AI Chats on Phone (Android and iOS)

You can request the export in the Character.AI app on iPhone or Android. The company emails a download link after 3 to 4 weeks, and the link is valid for 7 days. If you can, open that email on a computer, where a large file is easier to handle.

Downloading Character.AI chat history on mobile

There is no instant download in the app. You ask for the export, and Character.AI emails you a link to download it later. The help center says an export “may take 3-4 weeks to complete” and that the link is valid for 7 days from the time the email is sent.

The email goes to the address on your account. Make sure you can open that mailbox on your phone, and look in spam too.

Exporting Character.AI conversations on Android

Open the Character.AI app and go to your Profile.
Tap the Settings icon, then tap Legal & Privacy.
Tap Export Data. A “Success” banner appears when the request has been submitted.
When the email arrives, open it and tap the download link within 7 days.
Find the downloaded file with your file manager. In Files by Google, tap the .zip file and tap Extract to see what is inside.

Exporting Character.AI conversations on iPhone

Open the Character.AI app and go to your Profile.
Tap the Settings icon, then tap Legal & Privacy.
Tap Export Data. A “Success” banner appears when the request has been submitted.
When the email arrives, open it and tap the download link within 7 days.
Open the Files app and find the downloaded file. Tap the ZIP file, and a new folder with its contents appears.

Handling mobile browser limitations and downloads

You can also request the export from the website in your phone’s browser. The web path is Profile, Profile Settings, Account, Manage Account & Data, Export Data.
The export file can be large. If the download fails on your phone, open the email on a computer and download it there.
Do not delete your account before the file arrives. Deletion is permanent. See delete now or wait.
We found no per-chat export in the app. To save a single chat now, copy the text into a notes app or take screenshots from the top of the chat down, overlapping each one by one message.
Some browser extensions say they work on phones, for example in Firefox for Android or Kiwi Browser. They are not made by Character.AI. Read what to check before you use one.
