Grok export to text, in your browser
On grok.com, Settings then Data Controls then Download account data emails you a ZIP with your chats. Drop it here to read all your Grok chats, search them and save them as text or a web page. Grok's companions now live in a separate app and Grok cannot export a companion's personality, outfits or memory, so only the chat text that is in the file is shown.
Open the viewer The viewer runs in your browser and uploads nothing.
What the viewer opens
A ZIP with prod-grok-backend.json inside, from Settings, Data Controls, Download account data on grok.com; or grok-chat-item.js from an X data archive; or a file from a Grok chat exporter (JSON, Markdown).
How to get your file
Grok can email you a file with your chats.
- On a computer, open grok.com and sign in. Companion chats are easiest to reach there.
- Open Settings, then Data Controls, then choose Download account data.
- Wait for the email with your download link. It can take minutes or days.
- Download the ZIP file. Do not unzip it. If it is big, that is fine: this page takes out the pictures by itself and keeps your chats.
What the viewer reads
- All the chats in the file, grouped by character (the viewer lists ordinary Grok chats too, under Grok)
- Old companion chats from before the companions moved to their own app, when the file holds them
What is not in the file
- A companion's personality, outfits, affection level and memory (Grok cannot export them)
- Chats from the separate companion app (no export from it has been seen)
- Pictures and voice (text only)
